Description
Pharmacogenomics continues to be a growing area within the practice of psychiatry, with increasing research, testing availability, and guidance on utilization. This presentation will provide an up to date review of the current state of evidence on the use of pharmacogenomic testing in psychiatry, including a brief review of pharmacogenomics to level the playing field in the remaining discussion, a contrast of current available testing- commercial versus research, discussion of current utilization of testing in clinical practice- what do the guidelines, clinical trials, and package inserts recommend, and finally how to consider implementation of pharmacogenomics in practice- what should a provider consider prior to ordering and how to interpret the results after receiving them. Resources will be provided on evidence and interpretation.

How to Earn Credit
Participants who wish to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, nursing continuing professional development contact hours (NCPD, formerly CNE), CE credit for pharmacists, or a certificate of participation may do so by viewing the live presentation and completing the evaluation. Participants claiming CE credit for pharmacists must have full attendance to claim credit. After evaluating the program, course participants will be provided with an opportunity to claim hours of participation and print an official CME certificate (physicians), CPE certificate (pharmacists), NCPD certificate (nurses) or certificate of participation (other disciplines) showing the event date and hours earned.

Instructors
Megan Ehret, PharmD, MS, BCPP is an Associate Professor at University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy. Dr. Ehret completed her BS and PharmD degrees from the University of Toledo. Additionally, Dr. Ehret received her Master in Clinical and Translational Research from the University of Connecticut Health Center. Dr. Ehret is also a Board-Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist. Most recently Dr. Ehret has practiced at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital as their Behavioral Health Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. She has experience in treating the spectrum of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. Additionally, she is President-Elect for the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) and serves as the Senior Editor on the Psychiatric Pharmacotherapy Review Course.
