Pathways to care include a combination of positive and negative experiences that shape attitudes toward mental health services, and treatment outcomes and engagement in coordinated specialty care (CSC). Historically underserved, racially and ethnically diverse communities experience adverse pathways to CSC. Given some of the unique challenges that racially and ethnically diverse communities face, this webinar will take a deeper dive into understanding these experiences. We will explore relevant literature that highlights the experiences prior to CSC among racially and ethnically diverse families in the US and present findings on the impact of these prior experiences on treatment.

How to Earn Credit

Participants who wish to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, CE credit for psychologists, CE credit for social workers, nursing continuing professional development pharmacology contact hours (NCPD, formerly CNE), or a certificate of participation may do so by completing all sections of the course, including viewing the full video and submitting an evaluation. A multiple-choice quiz is provided based on the content. A passing score of 75% must be achieved. After evaluating the program, course participants will be provided with an opportunity to claim hours of participation and print an official CME certificate (physicians), CE certificate (psychologists), CE certificate (social workers), NCPD (nurses), or certificate of participation (other disciplines) showing the completion date and hours/credits earned.

  • Oladunni Oluwoye, PhD, CHES, Dr. Oladunni Oluwoye is an Assistant Professor in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University and the Co-Director of Washington State Center of Excellence in Early Psychosis. She serves as one of the lead evaluators for New Journeys, a network comprised of 11 coordinated specialty care programs in Washington State. Overall, her research is focused on improving the pathways to care for the Black/African American community and family engagement in coordinated specialty care, reducing racial and ethnic inequities in mental health service utilization, and improving services for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and serious mental illness. Dr. Oluwoye reports no financial relationships with commercial interests.
