Asynchronous telehealth tools like apps can increase access to care for people with SMI, but by their nature do not offer real time in person support. Thus, crisis management remains a challenge in this space and one of increasing importance as apps grow in popularity and use. This webinar will begin with an overview of 1) app use in SMI, and 2) factors impacting suicidal ideation in people with SMI. Then, the presentation will cover crisis policies in general mental health mobile apps, as well as mobile apps available for crisis management. Next, the webinar will discuss the use of available crisis-related mobile apps for people with serious mental illness. Finally, the webinar will cover how to make a safety plan with patients around use of apps and best practices for crisis management.
