This webinar will explore the early psychosis literature, lived experience, and professional observation of the diversity of hallucinatory experiences in early psychosis work. We will look at qualities to hallucinations as they relate to non-psychotic and psychotic experiences and ultimately diagnostic labels with treatment recommendations.

How to Earn Credit

Participants who wish to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, CE credit for psychologists, or a certificate of participation may do so by completing all sections of the course, including viewing the full video and submitting an evaluation. A multiple-choice quiz is provided based on the content. A passing score of 75% must be achieved. After evaluating the program, course participants will be provided with an opportunity to claim hours of participation and print an official CME certificate (physicians), CE certificate (psychologists), or certificate of participation (other disciplines) showing the completion date and hours/credits earned.

Instructor

  • Ryan Melton, Ph.D. . Dr. Melton earned his Ph.D. in 2012 from Oregon State University. In addition to acting as Dean of the School of Psychology and Counseling at Bushnell, Dr. Melton is the clinical director of the EASA Center for Excellence at Oregon Health Sciences University where he provides clinical consultation and training to early intervention with mental illness to programs nationwide. Dr. Melton has published multiple papers and textbook chapters and has presented at multiple conferences. Dr. Melton’s research focus is on the impact of interventions with individuals experiencing early schizophrenia, engagement strategies, effective treatment and reducing duration of untreated psychosis. Dr. Melton is certified is providing training for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Feedback Informed Treatment, using the Structured Interview for DSM 5 disorders (SCID) and one of seven in the world certified to train clinicians in the use of the Structured Interview for Psychosis Risk Syndromes (SIPS). Dr. Melton also has a private practice in which he supervises mental health clinicians for licensure and provides training on diagnosis and evidenced based mental health practices. He is a strong advocate for the health care needs for individuals with mental illness. Dr. Melton reports no financial relationships with commercial interests.
