The webinar will provide an overview of current professional practice guidelines and scientific publications on long-acting injectable antipsychotics use in treatment of schizophrenia. Many patients diagnosed with schizophrenia who are eligible for treatment LAI antipsychotics are limited in access to this treatment modality because of clinicians limited on advantages of LAIs over oral antipsychotics. Learners need to understand how utilization of LAIs in evidence-based prescribing can improve patient outcomes and decrease health care cost in treatment of patients with schizophrenia. This activity provides information on the professional guidelines on use of LAIs in treatment of patients with schizophrenia and specific advantages of selecting evidence-based treatment to improve patient outcomes.

How to Earn Credit

Participants who wish to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, nursing continuing professional development contact hours (NCPD, formerly CNE), or a certificate of participation may do so by viewing the recorded presentation and completing the evaluation. After evaluating the program, course participants will be provided with an opportunity to claim hours of participation and print an official CME certificate (physicians), NCPD (nurses), or certificate of participation (other disciplines) showing the event date and hours earned.

  • Leon Ravin, MD has been the statewide psychiatric medical director in Nevada since August 2015, and previously served as an associate medical director. Since 2006, he has worked in clinical and administrative roles at Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services, including taking an active role in testifying on mental health laws and community standards of care before the Nevada Legislature. Dr. Ravin has been the director of graduate and postgraduate medical education for the state Division of Public and Behavioral Health since 2012 while also teaching as a clinical professor for the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
